Meet Heidi

Heidi Frail loves living in Needham.

She and her husband Stephen, along with their two sons, have lived in town since 2004. They were drawn to Needham by the many amenities it offers, including great schools, numerous parks, an easy commute to Boston, and the ability to walk everywhere. They also liked that the people in the community were involved and active, something that Heidi believes is important in order for the town to continue to thrive.

In 2016, the national political climate spurred Heidi to use her voice and get involved in a tangible way to affect change.

She first joined the League of Women Voters as a way to help with the ups and downs of politics. As a non-partisan organization, the League was a good place to start helping to get out accurate information and educate people. This enabled her to channel her energy in a positive direction. In 2017, Heidi decided to run for Town Meeting to represent the interests of the residents in Precinct G and is now serving her second term. Heidi also joined the Needham Democratic Town Committee to work for change and soon became an elected member.

For years, Heidi has worked locally as a part of the care team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Pain Management Clinic. Now, with her two boys grown – one a sophomore at Northeastern and one a junior at Needham High School – she has time for increased civic engagement. After serving Needham in other capacities, she is looking forward to taking a greater role in the town’s leadership as a member of the Select Board.

Heidi is passionate about climate action, believes in the need for a diversified housing stock, and wants to improve the lines of communication to ensure that all residents have access to necessary information and feel connected and heard.

She is also acutely aware of the financial pressures on taxpayers, and she takes seriously the responsibility of making spending decisions that are in the best interest of the town’s future.

Heidi hopes to work within Needham’s well-run town government to serve all residents. In a town with smart, informed, and increasingly active residents, Heidi wants to motivate people to take action. She is most proud of her ability to inspire people to get involved. She is someone who isn’t afraid to ask as many questions as necessary, and will speak up to voice her opinion and advocate for what is right.
